Erin Alles is a London-based artist from Southern California’s Coachella Valley, represented by Anti-Agency.

Erin holds a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University of London and is a graduate of the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program. Their practice includes choreographing contemporary dance, performing, painting, making music, DJing, acting, and modeling. They are focused on the body during change, observing and directing how energy enters and exits with Reiki, and documenting the synchronicity that comes with transition. Their research begins in the body, and also spans alchemy, anatomy, kinesiology, contortion, somatic movement, Romuva, divination, quantum physics, and shamanic practice. Their flesh is an archive of inherited ancestral wisdom, a receiving station for a series of transmissions from a larger energetic field, and a tool for divination. Through paced breathing and contorted spiral movement, they allow the body to experience sensation past its threshold to connect with the subtle body and enter a state of trance. In this meditation, Erin paints a record of alchemical transformation, utilising extracted body fluids mixed with pigmented chemical and organic matter. Brushes, bare hands, and sharp tools bruise, cut, and scrape surfaces, a process that visualises intense and painful physical exploration and the information received through self-torture. An example of this process is described here.

Erin has starred in films including HELL by Tom Brett for Nowness, choreographed original work for the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training Program and the SF Young Choreographers Forum, performed for London Gallery Weekend and galleries in the UK and USA, and modeled in campaigns for brands including AVAVAV x Adidas, Nike Yoga, and Flannels.
